BNJMN was featured at the Tinguely Museum Aug 2-20, 2024 with the exhibition 'unleashed' Newly Revealed: Early Explorations of Interactive Media in Visual Communication. Unleashed displayed early explorations with contemporary artistic experiments in technologies such as generative AI, virtual reality, and robotics.
BNJMN is a mobile sensory image production mechanism. A modular acrylic body with three wheels and two autonomous arms. His two color paintings are a documentation of his distinct coded behavioral attributes. He is programmed with a set of parameters to determine a visual recordablle outcome, but every painting BNJMN creates is a unique representation of a brief moment of robotic psychosis. That moment begins after he has found and calculated a suitable canvas (paper) and is complete once he leaves his signature.

BNJMN's series are arguably what he creates between programming updates. His painting protocol or Expressive Output Cycle is derived by his body design, functionality and how his movements link to his two independent arm system. It could be said that BNJMN embodies the Iconic ownership of an artwork to an artwork. The project started from the idea of a certain kind of robot rather than the desired visual outcome, but BNJMNs paintings evolved to become a symbiotic expression of a style that was fashioned from his construction, abilities, and limitations.
